While pregnant your breasts will begin to grow. After giving birth, when the milk comes in, your chest will grow even larger. You will most likely want to find a nursing bra for a large bust.
If your breasts were large prior to pregnancy, you may have a harder time finding a bra that fits your ever-growing chest.
There are nursing bras available on the market specifically for large busts, you just need to know where to find them, and what to look for in a bra.
What to look for in a nursing bra for a large bust:
- supportive
- comfortable material
- well made
- large sizes
- wider straps for support
In this article, we’ll discuss the types of nursing bras available on the market and will link to specific nursing bras for large breasts so you can easily shop your favorites.

Nursing Bra for Large Bust
There are some criteria that will make a nursing bra for big breasts better than others. And you may not have an easy go at finding the best fit, but the good news is they’re out there and we’re going to list our favorites in this article.
Let’s chat nursing bra types
Nursing bras will come in a variety of types. Some types of nursing bras are:
- sports bra
- front closure
- pumping bra
- underwire
- underwire-free
- structured
Why use a nursing bra
A nursing bra opens in the front so you can easily nurse your baby. This allows convenience and keeps you from needing to remove the bra in order to get the baby to the breast. You’ll simply open the front tab and the breast will be exposed for baby.
A nursing bra will also be supportive and comfortable for the heaviness of milk filled breasts. They are also great for sleeping as they’re often comfortable and allow for support during sleep and also allow for ease in using nursing pads for leaking breasts.
How many bras will you need
I only had a couple when I was nursing my boys and that worked for me. However, everyone has their own needs and wants when it comes to their bras and clothing.
You may want a couple sports bra nursing bras for those extra comfortable days. While, you may also want something more structured, and even sexy, for a more pulled together day – or, on the days you just need more support.
A good rule of thumb is to have at least 3 nursing bras.
- 1-2 for comfort
- 1-2 that are more structured
- 1 sexier look if you’d like to feel like a hot mama
Choosing a nursing bra
If you can’t be fitted at a bra store, I’d recommend that you use Amazon Prime’s Try it Before You Buy It. You can purchase a bunch of bras to try on and then only pay for what you keep.
If you want to buy from other online shops besides Amazon, I’d recommend that you make sure that research their return policy. Some places are beginning to charge a restocking fee. You’ll want to see how long you have to return the items as well.
